چکیده

The rapidly expanding fields of pharmacogenomics and pharmacodiagnostics have presented the pathology laboratories with many challenges and opportunities. As custodians of patient tissues, these laboratories are in the logical position to perform biomolecular testing for proper management of patients. In order to meet these challenges, the pathology laboratories of the twenty-first century should design and execute a biomarker-friendly, standardized tissue handling, including fixation and processing, to ensure uniform protection of macromolecules for clinically useful molecular assays. This important pre-analytic phase cannot be successful if tissues are handled in the traditional manner that includes the use of conventional fixation and processing. The recent progress in fixation and processing methods are rapidly replacing the time-honored routine formalin fixation and overnight processing. In this article we describe our experience with such system that not only produces good histomorphology but also preserves high quality RNA, DNA, and proteins in paraffin

The frequency of vascular changes in the histopathology of cutaneous leishmaniasis

Introduction: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a parasitic skin infection which can be debilitating. This study was performed to determine the vascular changes in the histopathology of CL. Methods: Thirty-seven patients with CL were included in a prospective study. A 4 mm punch biopsy was obtained from the border of the lesion. After histopathologic processing and H&E staining, it was reviewed ...

Essential Oil of Aaronsohnia Pubescens Subsp. Pubescens as Novel Eco-Friendly Inhibitor for Mild Steel in 1.0 M HCl

The essential oil from the aerial parts of Aaronsohnia pubescens subsp. pubescens plant (APS oil) was extracted by hydrodistillation, and then its composition was analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). We identified thirty-four constituents presenting 87% of the total amount, Which, Carvacrol (13.9%), α-Pinene (10.3 %), E-Anethole (10.1%) and Ar-Turmerone (9.3%) w...

Detection of Mouse Cytomegalovirus in Adenocarcinoma Bearing Razi/A Mice: Molecular and Pathological Studies

Despite a lot of research, the etiology and progression of breast cancer remain incompletely understood. Recently, human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) was reported as a risk factor for breast cancer. The aim of this study was to know whether breast cancer could be caused by cytomegalovirus or not? In this experiment seventeen samples of RAZI/A mice with spontaneous breast cancer were being gathered fr...
